My absolutely favourite place to shoot in my town is this sweet stretch of the beach in West Mersea, Essex, and I always recommend sessions here and love it when clients are just as eager. Paisley and Olive (how wonderful are their names!) met me at the beach for their Mummy & me session. I adore these sessions. Paisley mentioned she has never really had many photos of just her and Olive and would cherish them forever.
I brought one my studio dresses with me along with a wide brimmed hat which looked fantastic. I can't tell you how much outfits contribute to your photos. They take them from good to just amazing and wonderful. Each client get a style guide sent to them in preparation for their session.
We had the sweetest time on the beach. Olive throughly enjoyed herself and was in awe of all the shells. She had herself a little adventure all of her own and didn't really know I was there. For me that's the best thing and capturing the natural happenings and interactions, these are just everything and exactly what I shoot the most of.
The beach is fantastic in any season. I find woodlands int he winter a bit drab, no leaves on the trees, muddy underfoot and not very 'dreamy' as I'd say. But the beach has that wonderful sand and tufts of grass all year round. It may be fresher int he winter, but wrap up! A dress with shawl and boots perhaps!
